As a girl growing up in a small town in Thailand we leant to cook at a very young age. I would help my mother with the cooking and when aunties and grandparents visited I would help them with their dishes.
I developed a passion for cooking which continued through my school years into my adult life. When I moved to London I cooked for many friends who all wanted to know how I had learnt to cook so well. I agreed to teach them in small groups of 3 or 4 people at a time, so they could learn the basic skills for Thai cooking.
My grandmother in Thailand sold food in the market. At a young age she tought me how to carve fruit and vegetables to make the food look more attractive . I used to love carving and when I got opportunity to study at a restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok I went to learn how to do more complicated designs. You can see some of these on this site. |
